Frequently Asked Questions
Which retailers will carry my book?
Through our distribution partnerships with Amazon KDP and Ingram Spark, your book will be available for purchase or order at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, Waterstones (UK), Apple Books, Kobo, Google Play Books, and over 40,000 independent retailers worldwide. We also submit to library networks including OverDrive and CloudLibrary.
What is the difference between KDP and Ingram Spark?
Amazon KDP focuses on the Amazon marketplace and offers strong royalty rates for ebooks and print-on-demand paperbacks sold on Amazon. Ingram Spark distributes to the broader retail and library market — the entire Ingram wholesale network. We typically set up both for maximum reach, with careful pricing to avoid channel conflicts.
How are print-on-demand books produced?
Print-on-demand (POD) means your book is printed individually when an order is placed — there's no warehouse of copies. This eliminates inventory risk and upfront printing costs. Quality has improved dramatically and POD books are indistinguishable from traditionally printed titles on the shelf.
Do I need to purchase inventory upfront?
No. Print-on-demand distribution requires no upfront inventory purchase. Your book is printed per order. Authors who want physical copies for events, gifts, or hand-selling can order author copies at cost price through our distribution accounts.
How do royalties work?
Royalties are paid by each distribution platform at their published rates — typically 35–70% of list price for ebooks and 40–60% of net proceeds for print, depending on the platform and pricing. We help you set list prices that optimise royalties while remaining competitive in your genre.
How long does distribution set-up take?
Once your files are approved and metadata is complete, distribution set-up typically takes 3–7 business days for ebooks and 7–14 days for print titles to appear across all platforms. Amazon listings usually appear faster than some smaller platforms.
