About Us
15 Years of Helping Authors Share
Their Stories With the World
The Book Publishers UK was built on a simple conviction: every author deserves access to the same quality of editorial, design, and distribution expertise that traditional publishing houses reserve for a privileged few. Since 2009, we've been making that access a reality — one book at a time.
Our Story
Built for Authors, By People Who Love Books
The Book Publishers UK began as a conversation between two editors who had spent years working in traditional publishing and kept hearing the same frustration from talented authors: the gatekeeping of the traditional system wasn't reflecting the quality of the work being left outside.
We started with three authors in our first year. We worked closely with each one — learning what genuinely useful publishing support looked like. By year three, word of mouth had brought us to fifty authors. By year seven, five hundred. Today we work with more than 2,800 authors and have built a team of editors, designers, marketers, and distribution specialists who care as much about your book as you do.
Our location is Los Angeles — home to the world's creative and entertainment industries — but our authors are everywhere. We've published books in every US state and 60 countries, and our team works across time zones to make sure geography is never a barrier to great publishing.
Our Values
What We Stand For
Author First
Every decision starts with what's best for the author and their book — not what's most convenient for us. We measure our success by your satisfaction with the finished product, not just completed deliverables.
Radical Transparency
No hidden fees, no vague scopes, no bait-and-switch packages. Every engagement begins with a written agreement that details exactly what you'll receive and what it will cost.
Editorial Rigour
Publishing a book is an act of presenting ideas to the world. We take that responsibility seriously. Our editorial standards are those of the publishing industry's best houses — not a corner-cutting shortcut.
Long-Term Relationships
Most of our authors come back for a second book. That speaks to the kind of relationships we aim to build — not transactional, but genuinely invested in your long-term success as an author.

Frequently Asked Questions
When was The Book Publishers UK founded?
The Book Publishers UK was founded in 2009 in Los Angeles. We began as a boutique editorial consultancy serving a handful of independent authors and have grown into a full-service publishing company working with more than 2,800 authors across every genre and six continents.
Are you affiliated with any traditional publishing houses?
No. The Book Publishers UK is an independent, privately held company. We have no ownership relationships with traditional publishers, literary agencies, or distribution platforms. Our sole business is providing high-quality publishing services to independent authors.
Do you publish all types of books?
We work across literary fiction, commercial fiction, memoir, business, self-help, children's, young adult, and academic non-fiction. If you're unsure whether your book fits our expertise, the free consultation is the best way to find out.
How do I know I can trust a self-publishing company?
Fair question. Look for transparent pricing, written contracts that clearly define scope, full rights retention, no revenue share on your royalties, and verifiable client reviews on third-party platforms like Trustpilot and Google. We meet all of these standards — and encourage every author to apply them to any publishing company they consider.
Can I visit your office?
Our team works in a hybrid arrangement from our Los Angeles headquarters and remotely. We don't currently offer drop-in visits, but client meetings can be arranged by appointment. Most of our author relationships are managed entirely by phone, video call, and email.
