Our Commitment

The Book Publishers UK LLC is committed to making our website accessible to the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, and we actively review our website to identify and address barriers.

Conformance Status

We aim to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We are aware that some areas of our website may not yet fully meet this standard. Known limitations and our plans to address them are noted below.

Partially Conformant

Some areas — including third-party embedded content and older PDF documents — may not fully conform. We are working to remediate these issues.

Technical Measures We've Taken

  • All images include descriptive alt text
  • Colour contrast ratios meet or exceed WCAG 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text
  • All interactive elements are keyboard-navigable
  • Skip navigation links are provided on all pages
  • Form inputs are labelled with associated
  • ARIA landmarks (main, nav, header, footer) are used throughout
  • Page language is declared in the HTML element
  • Focus indicators are visible on all interactive elements
  • Videos include captions where available
  • Error messages are clearly associated with the form fields they describe

Known Limitations

  • Third-party content: Embedded content from platforms such as Google Maps and third-party chat widgets may not fully meet WCAG standards. We minimise the use of such content and seek accessible alternatives where possible.
  • Legacy PDF documents: Older downloadable PDF documents may not be fully tagged for accessibility. We are working to replace these with accessible versions.

Assistive Technology Compatibility

Our website is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • Screen readers: NVDA + Firefox, JAWS + Chrome, VoiceOver + Safari
  • Keyboard-only navigation (all major browsers)
  • High contrast mode (Windows and macOS)
  • Browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality
